I would like to apologize to my friends for my late night/early morning rant. I am human, and a native Texan and can only take so much from the socialist, communist, environmental wacko zealot community.
I am particularly appalled by the fact that a majority of these people come from states that they have screwed up and now they want to screw up our state. The unfair and dis-respectful treatment of Mr. Hilliard was a down right disgrace.
I would also like to point out Ms Stephens lashing out at our Fire Chief Mike Smith was another outrageous disgrace not only on her, but the board as well. Someone needs to take her to the wood shed and give her some instruction as to how to behave. Mike Smith and the Flower Mound Fire Department have a stellar record of service and are to be commended for their bravery, and sacrifice. To be berated by some less than intelligent whack job is an insult.
I still thank god that I live in the state of Texas, where Oil and Gas are King. I know the law is on our side. I am looking forward to the day when Mr. Hilliard and 1,600 hundred mineral estate owners file "takings" suits against the town of Flower Mound. I think when they are awarded half a billion dollars it will get the attention of the rest of the towns people and there will be a revolt against the anti-drilling zealots and their leadership. I don't see them staying in office very long.
Haste la vista NFL, but I'll be back...................

I'm already counting down the days till the next election. And this time, Ill be prepared. It just stinks that our town will end up losing so much money that you and me both paid taxes for. Oh well, its not like they're going to use that money for anything new. SMART Growth is NO Growth. Be prepared for all these nuts to call you greedy bastards, not like they haven't already.
Given the size of the Hilliard property, I suspect that the drillers can probably place the pad site in a different location, which if combined with some actions by Mr. Hilliard such as removing the shed and/or capping his private water well, may eliminate the need for variances. It is a real shame they have to do that since Mr. Hilliard has been such a supportive resident over the years.
Bottom line, though, is that there will almost certainly be drilling on this site, which will benefit the mineral owners as well as the other residents of FM by generating tax revenue to the Town and gas royalites for LISD.
It sure looked last night, that with Ms. Northern, hanging out in the backroom behind the board dictated the outcome of the board vote. I think Ms. Northen is fixing to be "schooled" by her constituents.
Yes! YES! We have been called socialists and communists yet again. Really? Don't you have anything better to be doing? Oh, and I am not an environmental wacko either. I really don't care. I drive a mustang gt for goodness sake. I am not against drilling either. However, I do not think that it belongs in our backyards. Oh, and Mr. Shiloh Man, Have fun getting your "half a billion dollars" for mineral owners.
I'm not an attorney, but I doubt that the denial of the variance requests constitutes strong legal grounds for a "regulatory takings" lawsuit. Presumably Atlas and Hilliard will find a way to reposition the drilling site in a way that variances to the ordinances are not required. If that happens, and the drilling permits are somehow denied, then there will be grounds for a truly massive regulatory takings lawsuit! One way or the other, Atlas, Hilliard and the other mineral owners will monetize their minerals - either in the traditional way or from the pockets of the residents of Flower Mound.
Bottom line, Bobby Dollak did not earn his check. If he is to continue to represent drilling interests he had better come prepared next time.
From what I have seen, the pad site with variances was to minimize surface impact. It is sad to watch the enviro zealots cut off their nose to spite their face.
Ordinances exist for a reason- to protect people. To say that the proposed variances are an effort to minimize surface damage is a poor excuse at best.
The law is only on your 'side' for the moment. If you've been paying attention, those of us who are weary of the Industry lies, theft of our land, contamination of our drinking water and polluting our air are making great strides in shutting these drill sites down evern before they start. You only mentioned Flower Mound-have you seen what a few people accomplished in Corinth? Not only NO to all 11 variances, a big NO to drilling at all.
Tim, I know you and your crusader buddies think you have beaten the big bad oil and gas companies. While I will agree, for the moment the socialist environmental gangs have won a few rounds. However; none of this is going to stand for long. Texas jurisprudence, a mineral owner’s rights to enter and extract his find has been extensively explored. In fact, the mineral owner’s rights are some of the most well-settled, bedrock tenets of Texas Property Law.
Your point that “ordinances exist for a reason, to protect people” is part of your problem.
To date, in Flower Mound, Dish, Argyle, Denton, and Fort Worth just to name a few cities, you can’t point to a single incident of “contaminated drinking water”, or “excessive VOC, or benzene air pollution” in any of those cities I’ve listed. So I guess in reality, we don’t need the excessive ordinances that some towns are trying to impose on mineral owners. I see the opposite happening, where the state legislature and the PUC will intervene, and do away with the ridiculous onerous oil and gas ordinances because of the fact that there are not any dangers to the health and welfare of the general public from oil and gas drilling.
So enjoy it while you can because the hay days of scaring the general public are just about over. Your little friends Tillman, Sharon Wilson, and Alisa Rich took care of that by yelling wolf one time too many times. And now when the real scientist, engineers, and PhD’s show up it makes your friends look not so good. Kind of like they were making it up to get attention, or to try and drum up a frivolous lawsuit. Whatever the reason, the show is just about over.
And a little advice about your problems out at your property, if you wouldn’t act like a jackass to people, and treat them with a little respect, you might notice that the jobs will get done a lot faster, and with less problems if you know what I mean?
Chris, you've obviously been only listening to your own rants. If you were paying attention, you would have noticed that the City of Corinth used legal measures already afforded to them to shut down XTO Bob and Company. One of the variances XTO Bob was looking for was to reduce the setback from 600 feet to 100 feet. He said in front of hundreds of people that XTO needed the space. I said if Aruba can drill 2 wells on 3 acres, I'm pretty sure XTO ouught to be able to drill2 wells on 23 acres. Therein lies the rub as it were. Turns out XTO was DECEPTIVE...again. Imagine that, Industry not telling the full truth. When questioned by the Corinth Mayor as to how many wells XTO intended to drill, XTO Bob said he didn't have the info. No one believed him for good reason. The following week, XTO Bob said that XTO intended to drill at least '5 more' in addition to the two they were looking for variances on. Tsk, tsk. Not good to lie to people. I find it impossible to believe that the XTO Bob, talking head salesman for XTO didn't know at the time how many wells were planned.
Ordinances exist for this very reason- to protect people from Industry such as this. If XTO wants to drill, they are going to have to respect the people. The days of raping the land and poisoning people are over.
In regards to my property, you mean to say that if I just laid down and took it, the would not have spilled at least 9,000 gallons of produced water, hundreds and hundreds of gallons of condensate and filled my air with 120 ppb of BENEZENE? (and before you blast the study, the tests (that's plural) were conducted by the TCEQ, and we have the FLIR videos to prove it)
So if I wasn't also such a 'jackass' I wouldn't also have dozens and dozens of videos of these Spiller Drillers dumping their 'proprietary' carcinogens all over my property because they would not have behaved this way to start with..if only I wasn;t such a jackass.
So there are actually documented cases of excessive VOC's, benzene and other bad acts in all of the cities you mentioned-and in Decatur, as well. Have you actually read any of the studies, or are you just repeating what b.s. Ireland spews?
The TRRC idiots responded to a complaint from an Argyle homeowner about flooding in her backyard, and her finding black oily water pooling in pockets. Teh drill site is UPHILL from her backyard. The TRC said the flooding was from her swimming pool. So now we have a resident with a documented case of water defying the law of gravity.
On my property, gas bubbles come up in wet pockets all over the place. They also produce a bright red fluid of some kind. (videos, again, plural) Aruba said that "Oxygen turns water red". When I said that I could IGNITE these bubbles,( more videos) he then said that "Methane is everywhere underground and just naturally seeps to the surface". Spin, spin, spin.
I am not opposed to drilling. I am deeply opposed to being poisoned. When the mineral right owners share exactly the same risk as that they impose on us because of their so-called 'rights' then we can make forward movement that satisfies the harshest of critics. Whether you are a minera right owner yourself, or just a fan, the mineral right owners shouldn't have a problems with giving up their own property, having condensate tanks set up, pipelines criss-crossing and drilling rigs running 24/7 300 feet fromt heir home. If it's all good and they say it's for the good of all Americans to get that gas, then I can't how they should have a problem with it.
Socialist? Communist? Environmentalist? Try capitalist. Mr. Hilliard isn't the only person with a real estate investment in the town of Flower Mound. His drilling endeavor will chop millions off the property values of the surrounding residences. Is he planning to reimburse those homeowners for the lost value? Is the drilling company?
It is fully hypocritical of Mr. Hilliard to cast aspersions at the same out-of-towners whose presence here makes his property worth what it is today. Oil and gas aren't king in DFW -- tech industries are king in DFW. These industries have drawn educated professionals from around the country and around the world. Without their homes and SmartGrowth, Mr. Hilliard's property would be just another parcel of worthless scrubland. He'd be able to drill, but he wouldn't have the incredible windfall that's waiting for him when he chooses to sell.
As for the fire marshall, the question is a fair one. You can't put this next to two schools without understanding the evacuation plan. It's not good enough to simply say there is a plan. It's not good enough to say the existing plan is fine. The veiled threat of violence against the board member is uncalled for.
It's interesting that you mention a half a billion dollars as a lawsuit award. I haven't seen an estimate anywhere of how much Mr. Hilliard stands to make on the drilling. I'd like to know how much money Ron's getting to sell me and the rest of his neighbors down the river.
Oh, and the only bigoted statement I heard Wednesday night came from one of the drilling supporters.
I obviously disgaree with Chris on many points, and he mine, but I applaud the fact he at least had the courage to post my comments.
I'll second that, Tim. I don't think there is much reasonable discussion going on between the factions. A tip of the hat to Chris for posting the counterarguments.
Mr. Ruggiero:
I have seen pictures of your land and I am sure it is a nightmare for you and your family. There is a huge difference between you and us, we have an O&G Ordinance that would not allow what is happening to you to happen in FM. I think what Decatur has allowed is just plain awful! You have decided that all pro-drillers are money grubbing loons, when really your fight is with Decatur City Hall, not pro-drillers.
