It's a Great Day in America

Yesterdays landmark supreme court ruling struck down the part of the federal law that restricted broadcast advertisements for or against political candidates right before elections that are paid for by corporations, labor unions and advocacy groups.

It's a great day in America when "Freedom of Speech" actually means "Freedom of Speech". Restricting the rights of like minded individuals who in order to get their message out band together. The law as it was written, was clearly restricting the rights of these groups to express their freedom of speech.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, a long time opponent of the law, said, "For too long, some in this country have been deprived of full participation in the political process."

Town of Flower Mound Town Council Meeting January 21, 2010

The town of Flower Mound town council meeting will be held this upcoming week on Thursday the 21st of January 2010 at 6:00 pm.  The location for the meeting is Flower Mound Town Hall, 2121 Cross Timers Rd Flower Mound, Texas.  The meeting will start at 6:00 pm.  If you intend to speak during the public participation portion of the meeting, you will need to fill out an "appearance before town council" form and turn it in to the town secretary Paula Paschal before 6:10 pm.  You can find these forms located on the tables next to the door on your right as you enter the hall.  If you are a concerned citizen, and live in the Shiloh Area it is imperative that you show up to voice your support for Agenda item's L. # 17 & # 18.  The support of the items will give Williams the ability to build a Centralized Waste Water Collection Facility on the Wilson compressor site.  By doing this, it will greatly reduce the amount of heavy truck traffic currently being routed down Shiloh.  When the CWWCF is built on the Wilson site, it will move the truck traffic currently on Shiloh over to Scenic.  This move will greatly improve the safety of our neighborhood and our small children who ride the school buses from the heavy truck traffic.  It will also greatly reduce the amount of environmental impact to Dr Bob Smith property next to us by reducing the number of tank batteries needed at each well site.  Greatly reducing the possibility of accidents, and spills.  This was something that we all originally negotiated in our leases with Williams.

The opposition is mounting their forces.  Even though these communities are anywhere from 1+ to 2 miles miles from the activity of this proposed facility, and would have no impact on them, they are wanting to punish us for exercising our property rights to lease our mineral rights to Williams.  Take a stand, and stand up for your rights, and your neighborhood.  Show up to the meeting on Thursday and tell the town council that you want them to pass this ordinance.  Here is a link to the agenda for the meeting.  http://www.flower-mound.com/agenda/TCarchive/TCA-01-21-10.pdf
